Side Chair
Description
A very rare walnut Charles II side chair with an oval caned back and a trapezoidal caned seat. The backstiles are turned with balusters, the front faces of the block above the seat are+ carved with foliage. The stiles are topped with finials in the form of a boy's head. The top rail pierced with a crown in the middle. The muntins are carved with c-scrolls and as is the lower cross rail. The front legs are carved as S-scrolls and decorated with acanthus leaves. The stretchers in H-form and the stretcher between the back swept rear legs are turned with balusters and rings. The front stretcher panel exists of three parts and is delicately carved with foliage and flowers.
